Neymar fait gagner le Brésil
After training on Thursday, the official website of the CBF has confirmed Mano Menezes’ selection for the friendly with Costa Rica on Friday in San José
The team is the same side that had been practicing together in training this week and there will be competitive debuts under Mano Menezes for three new Seleção stars – Fábio da Silva, Adriano and Luiz Gustavo.

Julio Cesar; Fabio, Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Adriano; Ralf, Luiz Gustavo, Ronaldinho; Lucas Moura, Fred, Neymar.

Interesting selections include that of Fábio at right-back, whilst the attacking trio of Ronaldinho, Lucas Moura and Neymar will be given the chance to prove they can combine together behind a target-man.

The match with Costa Rica will be played at 20.00 local time on Sunday evening (03.00 London).

Santos forward Neymar has promised Brazil will put on a good show in tomorrow’s friendly against Costa Rica as they look to continue where they left off against Argentina last week.

Brazil coach Mano Menezes and his side have been under the spotlight since their disappointing quarter-final exit from the Copa America at the hands of Paraguay in July.

But the Selecao lifted the Superclasico de las Americas trophy with a 2-0 triumph over their arch rivals to relieve the pressure on Menezes, and Neymar wants more of the same at the Estadio Ricardo Saprissa.

“I’m very happy and very boosted after beating Argentina last week,” said the 19-year-old, who scored the second goal in Belem. “It was a derby and it was wonderful beating those rivals.”

Most of Brazil’s South American rivals have more important matters to deal with tomorrow as they kick off their World Cup qualifying campaigns, but Neymar insists the 2014 hosts will not be taking their trip to San Jose lightly.

“Brazil’s obligation is always to play well – in our country or anywhere else in the world,” he added. “We’re a football country and we have to perform like that.”

Brazil, who faced Argentina with a squad of home-based players, welcome back their Europe-based stars for the Costa Rica encounter.

Colombian Jorge Luis Pinto will make his debut as Costa Rica team boss, and Brazil defender David Luiz believes that could prove an additional problem for the visitors.

“Each time you have a new coach, every player gives even more, to show him they can play,” said the Chelsea man. “He will bring a new philosophy, and the players will want to show him all they can give.

“We have to stop them at the beginning of the match, so the pressure moves to their side.”

A number of Brazil players have admitted they do not have too much knowledge of their hosts.

“We know Central American football is growing, but we don’t know any Costa Rica player, we have to say,” said Barcelona defender Dani Alves.

“We know they have good players, but honestly we don’t have many details on them.”

His club colleague Adriano added: “Mano Menezes know some more details and will brief us on Friday, before the match, but I can’t recall any name.”

Costa Rica, on the other hand, know their opponents well, and Pinto has been preparing his troops with a view to getting a positive result on his debut as coach.

“In my training there’s no let-up,” he said. “We work with the same intensity as in the matches.”

He gave little away over his starting XI, saying only: “We will decide the line-up only after we finish all our training sessions. We’re working on tactics and dynamic moves involving several different players. We’ll see after that.”

C’est un but de Neymar qui a donné la victoire au Brésil la nuit dernière à San José face au Costa Rica. La Selecao l’a emporté 1-0 grâce à une réalisation du joueur de Santos un peu avant l’heure de jeu (59′).
